Based in Somerset West, Cape Town, Geeklab is a full-service digital agency that has been building and marketing brands since 2012, working with clients across South Africa and internationally. The agency began after its founders identified a recurring issue with businesses paying agency prices for template work and unclear reporting, and built a model around in-house delivery and monthly reporting on real numbers. Following a 2017 expansion into a second office, the two teams merged into a single company in 2019, and Geeklab now runs strategy, design, development, SEO, paid media, social media, and video production from one team working to a single plan, with a small team structure of 1-10 people. Services span web and app development, ecommerce solutions, website design and UX/UI, creative and brand design, video creation, search engine optimisation, PPC management, and social media marketing, alongside WordPress hosting. Work is delivered in-house rather than outsourced to freelancers, with the same team handling pitching and delivery, and design work routed through a dedicated design lead. Projects begin with research into the client's business, customers, and competitors rather than templated approaches, and SEO strategy and site redesign work are handled together rather than in separate silos. The agency has adopted AI tools to speed up research, reporting, and first drafts, while keeping strategy, design, and quality control as human-led tasks. Reporting is structured around monthly tracking of costs and results, with adjustments made based on performance data.
