Meewerk Foundation

Based in Utrecht, Netherlands, Meewerk Foundation combines IT and web services with a social mission: staffing projects with displaced individuals, newcomers, and employees transitioning into the tech sector. Founded by Jack Wilmore, a graduate of MIT and a refugee in the Netherlands, the organisation was created to help skilled newcomers overcome barriers to re-entering their profession despite holding technical qualifications. Its teams draw on graduates from the Clarusway and HackYourFuture training programs, working under the guidance of senior professionals on live client projects. Clients include established firms in the IT sector as well as smaller organisations, such as Stichting Humaner and BeautyBank, for which the foundation built a custom database system managing four different user types (clients, professionals, connectors and sponsors), each with separate log-in pages and dashboards. Services cover web design and development, web and mobile application development, search engine optimization, digital marketing, and social media integration. Technical capabilities extend to data science, full stack development, and AWS and DevOps work. Project delivery pairs junior developers, many from the newcomer training pipeline, with senior staff to ensure quality on client work, including tailor-made dashboards and automated matching systems designed to help teams manage databases more efficiently. The stated aim is to provide cost-effective IT solutions for clients while giving team members practical work experience toward new careers in the sector.
